Get help taking care of a loved one

Caregiving is an act of love, but it’s work, too.

If you’re caring for someone who needs help with daily living activities, such as feeding and bathing, they may be eligible for Simply Long-Term Care (LTC) – a Medicaid plan that makes living at home possible.

Our members choose their own path of care

LTC members have two options for receiving in-home personal care services, like help with bathing, dressing, feeding, preparing meals, and going to the bathroom.

Let Simply manage personal care services

If you need relief from being the primary caregiver, we’ll help guide you through the process to get the help you need. We take care of all the details so you can focus on your other responsibilities, while ensuring your loved one’s needs are met.

Choose a direct service worker

Members can choose their own personal assistant, called a direct service worker, who is paid to provide their personal care and home health services. Almost anyone can be a direct service worker, including family members or friends. As a direct service worker, you can earn the income you need to focus on caregiving, and your loved one gets support from a person they trust. Direct service workers are paid by the program and do not cost the member anything.

Services to give your loved one the best quality of life

If your loved one qualifies for the program, they can get additional services on top of their current health insurance coverage:

  • Adult companion care
  • In-home health and personal care services
  • Transportation
  • Help with household tasks and chores
  • Meal delivery
  • Respite care
  • Hearing aids and batteries
  • Podiatry
  • Occupational, speech, and physical therapy
  • Adult day care
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Personal Emergency Response System (PERS)
  • Home safety modifications
  • Medical equipment and supplies

Benefits for caregivers

Caring for others as well as yourself can be a challenge. Simply offers benefits to help make things just a little easier for you.

Respite care

We know caregivers need breaks. Your loved one may be given extra hours of care at home or respite care at an adult day care or in an assisted living facility. This gives you support so you can take some time for yourself.

Individual therapy sessions

Your mental health needs matter, too. Your loved one’s benefit will allow you to get therapeutic support to help manage the demands of being a caregiver.

Caregiver transportation

If your loved one resides in an assisted living facility, adult family care home, or nursing home, we offer caregiver transportation to visit the member with up to four one-way rides each month.

Caregiver training and assistance

You and your loved one are given information about treatments and other services in the member’s care plan, equipment use, updates needed to keep your loved one safely at home, and support to meet their needs.

Lodging and food benefit

Members and their caregivers needing to travel more than 100 miles for medically necessary care get a lodging and food benefit. This Simply benefit removes some of the burden of having to travel far to support your loved ones.
